Peer Review

Leading to a Certificate of competency issued by the Maritime Training Academy (MTA)

The MTA Peer Review is a detailed oral examination in front of three member Peer review Committee that lasts between 2 to 3 hours and which is graded on a pass/fail basis. The Peer review will include a series of questions to test the candidate's practical and theoretical knowledge of surveying in their chosen specialist field. Candidates are asked questions from a random range of topics from standards, procedures, ethics, inspection techniques, interpretation of findings and specific case questions relating to the portfolio of experience provided in support of the Surveyors log book. Successful completion of the Peer Review is required to achieve the MTA Certificate of Competency in the chosen subject.

Students will be immediately informed of the result of the Peer Review (although a short consultation session maybe required for the Review Committee).

Students will be given specific reasons for their failure to reach the required standard if applicable

Pre-requisites
