The Maritime Training Academy and Alison Rentoul, the Crew Coach, work closely together to help and advise students with their career within the Superyacht industry. We have developed a close working relationship offering all the training and practical advise required to achieve a long, successful and rewarding career in yachting.
Here's what Alison has to say about the Superyacht Operations Diplona:
Yachting is a peculiar profession - its' an odd combination of professional and laid back, skilled and easy, stressful and highly enjoyable. For many crew this was not their first career choice and yet they've found themselves continuing over the years because the pros for them outweigh the cons. At a certain point though most crew do begin to want more from their career, to deepen, widen and reinforce their knowledge. Continuous professional development is a concept familiar to most career minded people but as a private coach to many of the industry's top level crew I have repeatedly found there is a great need for training and development specifically related to the peculiarities of our industry, designed by people who really know what it's like to walk in crew shoes. For this reason, many of my clients have spoken very highly of the MPI Group courses as they are relevant, rich in content and provide people with greater confidence to regard themselves as educated professionals within their chosen career. Whatever your level and ambitions within the industry I can wholeheartedly recommend furthering your skills and knowledge with ongoing education. Our industry is becoming ever more competitive and smart owners and Captains are looking for people who are willing to go the extra mile. Investing in your own personal growth and development is a great way to show your initiative, drive and ambition - and what better investment can you make than in improving yourself?
The Crew Coach writes a column for the popular crew magazine The Crew Report, addressing issues that affect crew throughout the entire industry, from junior and new joiners right through to captains and senior crew. To read her recent articles please click the following link –
