What the course offers

Professional Yachtsman's Association (PYA) & Portsmouth University Diploma in Superyacht Operations offers:

  • The opportunity to accrue specialised knowledge of the industry from a broad perspective
  • A distance learning course to provide the knowledge necessary for already established or aspiring yachts crew members. The course recognises the value of the various MCA Certificates but aims to fill the significant gaps in terms of practical knowledge and teach the skills required for the day to day running of a Superyacht.


This 12 month Diploma course starts in October 2009 and comprises of 12 modules.

The Course

The course is delivered by distance learning, lasting approximately 12 months.  You will be expected to complete 12 modules and tutor marked assignments and an examination to achieve the diploma.  If you require the certificate then you are asked to complete just the 12 modules and assignments.  Click here to see the modules.

The Examination

The exam dates are in October/November 2010 and April/May 2011.  The three hour open book examination can be set in the country you are based, subject to available support facilities.

Seminars

There will be two tutorial seminars, one in April/May and one in October/November each year.  They are not compulsory but are beneficial and are an excellent opportunity to meet fellow candidates, the Course Director, authors and tutors.
